ℹ️ About MX Records

MX (Mail Exchange) records tell the internet which servers accept email for your domain. Each record has a priority value β€” lower numbers have higher priority. Mail is always attempted at the lowest-priority number first, falling back to higher numbers if that server is unavailable.

  • Multiple MX records β€” Provide redundancy. If the primary server is down, mail is delivered to the backup.
  • Null MX (RFC 7505) β€” A single . 0 record tells senders your domain doesn't accept email, preventing bounce-related spam.
  • No MX record β€” Senders fall back to the domain's A record, which is usually not a mail server.

If you're setting up a new mail provider, update your MX records and allow up to 24–48 hours for full propagation before switching over.
